THis is the generic message board thread where everyone introduces themselves (as if most of the people on boards really care about such errata).
Anyway, I'm ECM, the guy that started this board and let it lie fallow for the past year before being prodded into doing something w/ it because using email for conversations was getting a bit tedious (plus, I pretty much hate Facebook, so that option was off the table).
A few factoids:
*Yes, I'm 'that' ECM, the one from GameFan and, ugh, GameGO. *No, I won't 'prove it', you'll just have to take the word of a complete stranger, on a random message board, somewhere in the bowels of the Internet. Or not.1 *I don't (and won't!) talk about my time at either of those magazines, so please don't waste my time or yours. *I love(d) the Wii and between it and the DS, they basically saved me from giving up games altogether.2 *I basically don't use the 360 as none of its exclusives (outside of the shooters, of course) appeal to me and mainly because I can't, in good conscience, support a company that knowingly shipped badly defective hardware (with an unprecedented, in CE's history, failure rate), and then proceeded to lie about it even after it was painfully clear there was a huge problem; if I play 'HD' games (what a silly name, since PC gaming has been on 'HD' gaming since the late '90s...at the very least) it's on the PS3. *My other hobbies include general fitness (typically involving heavy amounts of iron), flower arrangement and a pathological need to learnlearnlearn about whatever it is that piques my fancy at any given moment. (This means I immerse myself up to my eyeballs in mainly books and websites on a particular topic until I'm a (relative) expert on said topic, that way I can at least pass of being erudite if you want to discuss quantum mechanics, ancient history or why Halo sucks).
Anyway, enough of that nonsense--who's next?
1I say I won't 'prove it' because, even though I've been out of the game mag biz for a decade now, people *still* manage to find me and, even then, half of them want me to prove that I'm the 'real' (ye gods) ECM. 2This is a slight exaggeration, but not by much.

Ok, serious introduction:
*I'm from Mexico, not a big fan of my country right now *I like pretty much any type of genre of games, except FPS (with exceptions), generic sports games, and redundant hack n slash/third person shooters *I love cinema, mostly weird movies, also weird music, and weird women too *I really don't care about politics, religion or other "heavy" topics. So i'm not that eager to discuss them as eric is. When you grow up in a place like Mexico you quickly learn to avoid politics at all cost *I need someone to practice my french *I like writting

This is CHI.
- I'm only here because ECM said I probably wouldn't sign up for the board.
- The only video games I like are ones featuring lil' buddies.
- The only system I own from the current generation is the Wii. I only own it because it was a gift. I haven't touched it in over a year save for when my wife got "Let's Dance" for Christmas.
- I'm not sure that I would recognize an Xbox 360 or a PS3.
- Politics make CHI sleepy.
- I managed to gain 15 pounds overnight. Twice.

And CHI also bears and uncanny resemblance to Bolo Yeung...but larger:

You are familiar w/ Galactus, right? Well, next to CHI, he's a pussy. (And also the largest Asian male you are ever likely to meet in real life: I think he's actually wider than he is tall.)
Hell, CHI could be the star of his own Chuck Norris facts:
"When CHI does squats, the weights don't move, the Earth does." "When CHI hits the Sizzler all-you-can-eat buffet, a blackhole collapses in shame." "When CHI visits Vegas, Vegas stays in CHI."

AllenSmithee here, the name's Allen and you can call me Smithee.
*Didn't play video games for the majority of my life, but watched them instead. *As such I have some stupid ideas of how I like my games. *I really adore Sega consoles, and didn't grow up with them, which proves that they're really quite good. *Yes, I'm a moderate centrist libertarian. *No, that does not mean I'm an indecisive prick. *My interests besides video games are sequential art, cinema, animation, existential philosophy, world religion, sociology, music, and women. *My favourite bands/musicians are Rush, Crayon-sha, Clammbon, Nujabes, and a bunch more.

I'm Justin.
I like double Big Macs, Friday afternoons and days when my wife leaves me in the care of my big old ass lazy boy for hours on end.
I read more now than I play video games. Mostly technical books, but once in a while I break the mold (I'm about to start "The Art of War").
I don't have a favorite console, just favorite games.
My life is simple: work for 8 hours, come home for one, go back to school all night, fall asleep to Star Trek TNG.

I'm a game developer by trade, jazz guitarist by night (well, I don't really play out much anymore, but I am still somewhat active), and lover of all wines stored in a cardboard box. I always adored video games but growing up in a town of 2000 people and one stoplight, I really didn't have much to go on in the way of how one made that a career, so I got involved in music pretty hardcore, graduated with a bachelor's degree in music performance, and then discovered that I couldn't make any money Eventually I ended up in game development anyway, and here I am, kicking ass and making games. I work as a level scripter, which is the same "family" as level design more or less. Otherwise, other than gaming and music, I enjoy following sports when I can. I like to read, but sadly I don't do it quite as much as I'd like these days. I'd love to write detective novels some day. Also, DC comics rocks, marvel sux. :-)* Finally, I'm not just a right wing loon like ECM, I'm a Christian conservative right wing loon; living in [REDACTED]** *Actually they all currently suck now, basically. **Decided that I didn't want random internet people knowing where I live (not you guys, but other folks looking at the forum).

And, as we learned today, Christians are a bunch of prudes that can't understand why a sitting Congressman sending photos of his genitals around the Internet, is perfectly reasonable behavior from an elected official. (And before anyone on the left starts w/ me, I wanted that Foley clown gone just as badly as rural, backwards, Christians, so don't even go there.)

I'm far enough away from Madison to be safe, but close enough to be scared of the place. Oh come one, it isn't *that* bad, I mean, as long as you don't go out after 6pm, the pitchfork wielding hordes won't catch you...

My good friend Zigfried clued me in on this forum. I don't know if I'll have much to contribute, but I enjoy reading the posts. I spend way too much time playing PC Engine games and writing about them for my web site ( The Brothers Duomazov). PS2 and Genesis are also among my favorite consoles; and music, fitness, and literature are among my other interests.

It sounds like you'll fit right in! Welcome! (And to pump up your ego a bit, I spent a good portion of last Saturday reading through your site and I liked what I saw!)
