LAST UPDATED 10-27:
This is a collection of sites that the readers of this 'site' think offer great gaming news, writing, etc. If you have one you'd like added, post it in here:
*Unlimited Zigworks: great writing and a general focus on games as old as I am (OK, maybe not quite *that* old) makes Zig's site a must-visit for the classic-minded gamer. (And he even *pays* for a URL, so that content has to be worth at least a good ten bucks...to him anyway.)
*Arcade Heroes: remember arcades? Yeah, well, that makes three of us. But for those three, Arcade Heroes is pretty much the only arcade site left on the net that actually a. updates and b. covers the Western arcade scene.
*The Magic Box: you probably all know the 'Box, and it's still updated regularly w/ lots of (mostly) import[footnote:1]Unless you're in Japan. Then I guess it's domestic.[/footnote] gaming news. It's also the only semi-mainstream site I visit, for what (little) that's worth.
*Actionbutton.net: personally, this site (and its 'writers') make me physically ill, but young Smithee digs it, so if you like your game writing with almost insufferable levels of self-importance and navel-gazing (with a side of self-aggrandizement), well, welcome home.
*Rock Paper Shotgun: Rob, resident game design impresario, likes this site, though i can't comment on it because I've been there, maybe, all of three times.
*The Brothers Duomazov (I see what they did there): Zig says: For people who dig the PC Engine / TurboGrafx, I totally recommend The Brothers Duomazov. Two of the writers barely exist (although they're cool people), but the one who writes 99% of the reviews is a legit genius and his love for the system really shows. Since I do, indeed, dig the PCE (second favorite '16-bit' console after the Genesis), I'll be visiting this site at some point.
*Gamespite: I absolutely loathe pretty much everything GS stands for, but since KoG likes 'em, they get a mention anyway.
*KoG's Fanboy Ramble: if you like, um, expansive reviews of games and other, assorted, pop culture goodies, you'll probably enjoy Knight of Gold's site, even if, half the time (or more!), you disagree w/ him. (Just be sure to bring some food, water, a sleeping bag, and put in for a leave of absence from work.)
*Unseen 64: this site is basically a repository for games that were announced/planned but, for whatever reason, never made it to market. Lots of cool curiosities abound!
*Acts of Gord: the continuing saga of the trials and tribulations of an independent game retailer in the land of hockey, Tim Horton's, and frostbite. (Unsurprisingly, if you've ever worked help desk/tech support, a lot of it's going to be crushing deja vu, but in a good way.)
*Nintendo 3DS Blog: I think we can all figure out what this covers, exhaustively.
*My Nintendo News: as above, only it covers Wii, WiiU, 3DS and anything else Nintendo manages to do. Like losing money. Lots of it.
