After a multi-month layoff from weight training, I start again today with renewed vigor, gusto, and the desperate hope that I can manage to go a few months w/o injuring myself.
Here's the (rough) workout plan:
(All exercises are *two* working sets of no more than 3-4 reps each.)
Day 1:
Weighted Push-Ups* Standing Shoulder Press Reverse Ring Dips
Day 2:
Pistols (Maybe) Dead Lift**
Day 3:
Weighted Pull-Ups Weighted Chins
I'll also work in some additional ab-related chicanery throughout, probably mostly just L-sits on parallelettes (and then L-sits on rings and dragon flags when I get back up to fighting strength).
PLEASE NOTE: this is *not* the sort of routine I'd recommend for *anyone* that doesn't already have a very solid, working, base of muscle to build upon. Which is pretty much all of you not of CHInese descent.
*NOT one-armed--I've learned my lesson! **I want to do these but I'm still a bit wary of injury and I'm super mega wary about thickening my waist.

Dead lifts are hard on the knees too.

They're really not IF your form is correct. Most people do them wrong (or not at all), tho.

Well, I did it and...hooray! My elbow doesn't hurt at all. Granted, the real test will be Wednesday when I do back/biceps, but right now I'm thrilled that, though my muscles already ache, there is *no* soreness in my elbow at all.

You want a real test? Just put five 45's on each side, grab the bar and see what comes out.

I think the answer would be: my arms.

I got back in the saddle a couple of weeks ago; and of course strained a pec muscle or something last week (as you know, ECM). But I haven't felt anything in the past few days at all (and to be sure, I wasn't feeling much discomfort mere hours after the strain), so I think I'm good to go on the bench presses again.
