...on my way tonight/tomorrow: Giant snow penis: serendipity or cruel fate?[footnote:1]No, I did not create this graphic--this is literally what appears on the site linked.[/footnote] I fucking hate Northern New England weather. And that part about power outages? Yeah, if there's a stiff breeze here, the power goes out. Wonderful. (And here was me thinking we were going to make it to November w/o snow! So naive!) Seems you are being hit, for massive damage, with a dong storm.
Over here is the usual, hot as hell.

For those keeping score: *9" in 8 hours, power is still intact. Meanwhile, in CT, I guess it's complete bedlam, with well over a foot and power outages everywhere. Also, some fun factoids for the AGW crowd: *Earliest snow in NYC since...the Civil War. *In CT, the prior record for snow in October was...less than an inch...ever. *I am freezing my ass off, unlike any previous October in Northern New England! *shakes ice-encrusted fist* Some photos: In the middle pic, you can already see that Lake Slush is forming, months ahead of schedule

I used to live in Baltimore, and loved the relative shortness of the winter weather there. You'd have your car frozen shut by rain freezing overnight and the roads were slippery death. But it didn't last long... especially compared to where I am now!
But there was one year... I want to say 2003?... where the East Coast just got blanketed. There was four fucking feet of snow all around my house, and after hours and hours of digging out my front walk, that same walk looked like those roads that cut through Hokkaido in winter... the snow like canyon walls on either side.

Dude, you just described Winter...2007-2010. It's basically back to where Winters were from the mid-60 to the mid-80s (I grew up in NY, enjoying it immensely from the late 70s to the mid 80s--I fucking HATE IT now), when global cooling was the new, um, hotness.

For once, Buffalo isn't the city in the news for snow. I expect that to change very shortly though.
