We bought a house!
(Before those who knew of the pre-current plans blow up, read on)
Heather (The wife) and I got a great deal on a town home in a very nice area of the city. It's right by the major backbone freeway as well, giving us quick access to the entire city. Best part is the neighborhood we're moving to is kind of like a pocket - you only go in if you live there.
Best part about the move is I get the entire basement, aaaaaaand I get to take the big TV down there as Heather wants something small and simple for the living room. Call me crazy, but the logic behind her decision, no matter how impossible it may be to understand, is 19 piles of awesome.
This also means we're probably not moving to Texas for the next five years. The company Heather works for just took out a contract for the Calgary branch (they are based in Oklahoma) and moved her from the Houston crew to a new one up here.
We still have plans to head south if life permits. It's not so bad here now anyways. We finally have a government that can operate (in the right way too!) and the job market here is finally starting to level out.
I'll dump pics of my new set up once it's done. We move in July 21.

Congrats! Welcome to the living Hell of home ownership! You might as well burn all your money now, to get ahead of the curve! XD
(But seriously, congrats!)

Thanks man. I've taken your advice to heart big time. I have been dumping all of my earnings in the bank to prepare for another 8 months of school.

Yeah, just think: you can now *live* your RCR avatar w/ no fear of being assaulted and "barf"ing on yourself.

Congratulations man!
That sounds pretty sweet, and I've always enjoyed a smaller living room vs better basement too, so I can dig it.

Congrats! I had a house, briefly, on a land contract with the parents. It's pretty cool, hope to someday be in that club again. But for now, I'm happy that our townhome that we rent has an apartment. I don't do the mancave thing (wife is amazing about letting me do whatever I want with the TV, it's my child that hogs it at this point), but I do like the basement for working out/my PC rig, etc.
