Actually WiiWare. Anyway, I took some time for myself today and scanned the PS3 and Wii online stores to see if anything piqued my interest and, lo and behold, a brand new hori shooter on WiiWare named Kyokotei was available. I bought it blind and, well, it's actually good! It's basically a hori Ikaruga, with all the good (and bad) aspects of that game, and it's a good challenge, even on Normal (imagine that). The graphics are OK (it's got that Harmful Park sprite rotation look rather than true animation, but what do you expect on a sub-40 meg, 'hi-res' 2D game? Muramasa?) It's also semi-schocking because it's by Microforum which, iirc, is a cellphone game-maker 95% of the time, but good on them for putting out a good game, a shooter, and on WiiWare! A trifecta I thought I'd never see. Heck, I'd like to be playing it right now, but due to some recalcitrant arm issues, I can't spend more than about 5 minutes at a time on it Anyway, give it a shot--at only 500 points, you can't really lose if you are at all a fan of shooters. Also, here's a link to some video: www.nintendo.com/games/detail/picypw0crSmz4wM8CUMdM9cbvzkypdztIt's so obscure there isn't even a vid of it on YouTube. (I gave this it's own post rather than sticking it in "Now Playing" so that everyone (all less than 10 of you) see it.)

Uh, wow. It IS almost exactly the same mechanically as Ikaruga.
Nonetheless this will be an instant download for me when I get home from work tonight.
I'm usually pretty good about catching these things, but I totally missed this. I think my funk over lack of stuff that I want on the wii (regular retail or VC) probably has me avoiding the console and the download services.
