Woo-hoo! For once I benefit from this! (In that I hadn't bought one day and date.)
Hmm, this actually kinda reminds me of another price 'drop' that relegated another machine to also-ran status in short order: the Saturn launching at $399 and Sony turning around and saying the PSX would be $299--SEGA's fate was, basically, sealed at that moment.
So how does this apply here? In a slightly skewed way, it puts Sony's Vita back in the unenviable position of being grossly-overpriced in relation to its competitor and, like Saturn, Sony is already taking a loss on the Vita, so it has *no* room to maneuver.
The only downside for me is that I'm still waiting for some games I really, really wanna play on the 3DS, but that won't stop Team Pre-Teen from driving sales of the thing through the roof.

It just occurred to me, in light of Nintendo's less-than-sparkling quarterly financials, that Nintendo has done what we, the residents of the USA, refuse to do: namely, allow for a huge market correction to get us on better financial footing for the future, instead of just hoping/praying that the problems magically go away. (Maybe we should elect Satoru Iwata as president )
