It's always good to have goals when training, so I'm going to share what I'm up to, at least (I think) for the summer: *Doing ten, one-armed, push-ups on each arm. (This is very hard and I fear I'm going to get some raging tendinitis again, which is very painful.) *Finally manage to do unassisted handstand push-ups. (I'd be happy w/ 3-4 of these.) *Staying lean (this is actually pretty easy 2 once you've conditioned 1 yourself sufficiently). 1Of course the conditioning involved a lot of 'starvation' and aggravation but it was worth it ( ) 2No, really, it is.

If Jackie Chan can, you can.
If you can do them on a wall, I tip my hat to you.

Yeah, I can do assisted whether it's feet on wall or dangling--man-like of course--from a chin-up bar (kInda really getting into this bodyweight1 stuff lately).
And I didn't know you wore a hat. So, like, a bonnet? Or maybe one of those hats w/ the flaps that all Canadians wear? (I saw it in Strange Brew and I take that to be a fairly accurate recreation of the lives of the average Canuck.)
1Though I tend to add weight via a vest, so it isn't, strictly, just bodyweight a la gymnastics.

My hat matches my flannel jacket XD.
I haven't worn my hat in ages. Doesn't really go well with the suit and tie variety that I have to wear now.

my goal is simple: hit a certain weight target for myself, so that I can shave off my beard and not reveal a Ted Kennedy sized head :-)

If only George Lucas would do the same.

Right now i'm doing exercise as soon as i wake up, then i take a shower and then i have breakfast. I'm starting with 15-20 min sessions, i recently came out from a killer cold, so it's yet another start from scratch for me.
As for diet, i'm pretty thin already, so i eat as usual: like a godamn pig. Well, i try not to eat that much red meat, but i will always be a carnivorous of course. I just avoid stuff like pork and the like. Of course i'm eating as much veggies as i can, but i can't quit the ocassional drink here and there. I'm a simple man of simple joys.

I'm one of those guys who even looking wistfully at a donut causes weight gain.* I wouldn't worry too much about the red meat and pork; Americans started demonizing meats/fats in the early 70s, and dutifully switching to "healthy" foods like grains and the like, and what we have to show for it is a vastly expanded obesity epidemic. I think sugars/processed foods/breads/pastas are the big drivers of fattyness; I know I respond way better when I eat whole foods and limit starches. And of course, this demonstrates the "holy heck Rob you are fat fat fatty fat fat but you KNOW STUFF about this, how can you be credible." To which I say, YES, it is BECAUSE I am fatty fat fat fat that I've read about these things. *In seriousness, thinking about sweet tastes or being in a room with food smells has been shown to provoke an insulin response in some people

Since my name is actually in the forum description, I guess I should throw in my two cents. I'm getting back into weights after 7 months of nothing but running, pushups, situps and pullups. There are two things I'm finding: 1. All that body weight training did nothing but trash my shoulders and make me weaker overall. I'm not saying that body weight training is useless; I'm just saying that I have no reason to continue doing it. 2. I'm finding that I have to be careful with my poundage increases. While most of the brute strength came back quickly, my core strength did not. I was able to move some decent (for me) weights after a week or two of getting back into it but my lower back was paying for it big time. I'm a little fatter than usual, too. At some point, I'm sure I'll get serious about leaning up again. At the moment, I just don't care. One good thing about living in Buffalo... You're never expected to take your shirt off.

Yep, I agree: bodyweight exercises are brutal on your shoulders and, in my case, hands (I don't know if you remember that nasty bout of tendinits I had, but that came directly from those super-heavy weighted dips I did for a couple of years straight...my God, that hurt).
However, none of this has made me weaker, but that might be because I constantly add lots of weight to those exercises via weight vest/belt...which, of course, exacerbates the joint issues. (Also: I find that wide-grip pull-ups just *destroy* my shoulders, and I had to stop doing them years ago because of the pain.)
(In CHI's defense, he'd probably have to bump Atlas (the Titan, not Charles Atlas) out of his spot to get enough weight to actually get stronger doing these exercises.)
That said, if I was concerned about my physical well-being, I'd have stopped lifting altogether after wrecking both shoulders benching a thousand years ago, as well as screwing up my lower back (now recovered, mostly) after super-setting dead lifts and...super-heavy weighted dips =/
As w/ any other routine (at least in my case), I just mix it up enough so that I don't end up reaching the point where my shoulders/elbows/hands are screaming for mercy, i.e. I don't spend any more than 3 months at a time on any given 'style' of workout (but, of course, I mix up the exercises within that style).
