Anyone see this?
I watched the extended edition (no idea what that entails, since I didn't see it in theaters) and, um, yeah: if Zach Snyder[footnote:1]I like the guy: Dawn of the Dead, 300 and Watchmen are all supremely watchable and I pray he does Superman justice![/footnote] wants to make a video game, maybe he should go work for Epic cause, um, this isn't really a movie in any recognizable sense of the word (other than it was stored on some sort of film).

I haven't been interested, it looks like a very ellaborated porn movie, but without the sex sequences.

No, there isn't even that to 'recommend' it--it's basically just Gears of War meets Ninja Gaiden, minus the interactivity, w/ hot chicks in place of space marines. (It does have great graphics, tho!)

I have a lot of thoughts on this film that I think make it better. They're really litcrit style.
I don't feel like writing them out and defending them as of present.

I liked it fine. I knew pretty much what I was in for before I saw it. And I got what I wanted out of it.
I read and hear a lot people giving a pass to 'popcorn' movies as far as story, continuity, logic or whatever... like if the budget is high enough and the spectacle explosion-y enough then most of the normal critiques applied to movies well... don't apply. I think that's bullshit.
I think there CAN be a balancing act performed where one aspect of a film is so good that you can be forgiving of its faults. In the case of Sucker Punch, I see what people are talking about when they badmouth it, but that junk just didn't bother or occur to me when I was watching it.
I enjoyed it. Nuff said.

I felt like it was basically three awesome music videos, and then there was some story that someone tried to jam in between the music videos.

Yup, that's also a fair observation.

I think it is actually a case of empowering women and isn't sexist like people say. The thing is, since this is psychological, she feels demeened, and so she dresses that way -- but almost every male in the story is a bad dude.
I also think that the labotomy at the end leads to another fantasy, which is the other blonde girl escaping -- you can tell it is a fantasy and isn't real mostly because of how ideal it is, becasue of the appearance of the boy in the trenches, and because there aren't billboard signs like that in Vermont.
