I'm probably the only one that cares but I figure why not have a thread dedicated to Atari? Not the current Atari Corp which is busy throwing their excrement on a wall and seeing how long it sticks but the Bushnell/Warner/Tramiel eras.
One of my favorite Atari arcade games:
Now for some homebrews
Atari 2600:
Zippy the Porcupine, a recent homebrew that is bringing a Sonic-like to the 2600
Atari 5200:
there are not many reasons to have a 5200 but there is Adventure II
Atari 7800:
Sirius, a psuedo-released game. Went unreleased in 1990 but was finished; discovered years later and some repros have been made from the bins of this and another shooter called Plutos
Atari XEGS
Aside from the 2600 the "8-bit PCs" have to have the most vibrant developments still happening for these old systems. Here is Ridiculous Reality, which is free. Most everything released for the XL/XE is free actually
Atari Lynx:
Atari Jaguar:
Could use a little more polish (in-game music, better select screens and transitions, maybe networking) but this is 'tube'

If only the Lynx supported double the on-screen colors...sigh.

It was still more than the Gameboy could ever manage(zing?)!

The Atari ST may not have been known for the best sound chip at the time but here's someone that has put together an album pushing the chip beyond where it was usually found: bleepstreet.bandcamp.com/album/chipsters-ep

Current Atari is redoing Haunted House again (this is the third attempt since Infogrames took over - there was one for the 360 and a recent "endless runner" version for the iPad) but this time in first person and its coming to Steam. I have no clue who Dreampainters Software is though: Steam link

This is a WIP for the Atari 7800, an 8-way scrolling game about surviving the zombie apocalypse called ReZolve. I imagine once this is complete it will also lead to something akin to a Gauntlet game:
