Am I the only person on planet Earth that actually *likes* (in retrospect) the weird, Infiniti-esque[footnote:1]If you're old enough, you'll recall that when the Infiniti automobile brand was introduced, their commercials featured scenes from nature w/ weird, Jack Handy-like, voiceovers and not a single word about the fact that they were cars. And, as you might expect, this didn't really have the desired effect on North American consumers since just about no one had any idea what the Hell Infiniti was, kinda like the TG16 box art which was just plain weird, in an avant-garde sense and probably also turned-off/failed to turn on gamers of the day (like me).[/footnote], box art for the initial run of TG16 games (before that ad agency was fired)? I'm thinking stuff like Blazing Lazers, R-Type, Dungeon Explorer, Military Madness, Alien Crush, etc.

I love them big time. They were instantly recognizable. Man, I really need to get MagicEngine going.

There are some that I like (The Legendary Axe) and quite a few that I consider perfectly acceptable (Alien Crush). I have to admit that I've never liked the Blazing Lazers cover. I don't find the art revolting or anything, but the sketch just seems too simple and boring for the game it's representing.
When ripping on those covers, people love to talk about how superior the artwork was in Japan, but many of the early PC Engine HuCards have dull/uninspired cover art.
