The main reason you will have a hard time finding this game is that it costs $12,000 a unit or so, restricting it to Dave & Busters pretty much

Thanks to ECM's intrepid research we've discovered that the newest Pac-Man arcade game on the market uses a modified PS2. This is Pac-Man Battle Royale, I've got it at my arcade and it's available in a lot of other places too. It's a lot of fun with 4 players.

This is a weird one. Back in 2009 Sega tested out this new concept that is a card vending game that vended special baseball cards. You would take the cards and place them into holders on the control panel and the stats of that player would be fed into the game and you'd play some baseball. The game failed tests in the US so they took it over to Japan. It did well there so they have an updated version out. I doubt they will try it again in the US but I suppose it wouldn't hurt for them just to try. I notice that a lot of this is in English, so who knows. This is a surprise. Sega is testing out a rhythm game in the US called Project DIVA Arcade. It's something that has gained traction in Asia and its based on a PSP version (which is why the buttons are the same symbols). Music selection includes many favorites from Sega's past on games like Outrun and recently there was an update to include After Burner music. Guess time will tell if they decide to do a full release.

How many units though would make it worth it? 2? 4?
I have a hunch that some could be picked up in Japan for cheap although I would need to find someone there to do the purchase through as the moment sellers in Japan know its going to the US, they jack the price up.
I did some searching to share some vid of this and found this video. Says Japan Arcade Night 4. Wonder if they mean the Japan Arcade in SoCal (as there is/was one some time ago) or just using that as a generic term?
One thing that would kill the import here is the amount of Japanese text. I imported an Oriental Legend 2 board for my arcade and it was barely played. Sure you can get through it just fine, I beat it without understanding the text but customers in general shun stuff with language barriers like that. Now if there was a way to hack the arcade version with an English patch...

I'm going to muck up the thread with something redemptionish related. There was a table like this at IAAPA by a company called Toccata Gaming and it already has been taken and modified by another, larger manufacturer. I bet these kinds of machines are going to start becoming a staple of bars over the next few years.

"Passion In; Fun Out" is actually halfway clever.

Behold another trade show has taken place. I'll have a post or two about it today on Arcade Heroes but to placate everyone, video of a new....racing game! We just never have enough in the arcades these days! And boy oh boy, were there more racing games at this trade show than I think I've ever seen. But all is not lost, the next video I will share has something a bit more original.

This is Toccata Gaming International. US based company starting to make some waves. That Beer Ball thing I posted above? That was actually a clone of what Toccata did first. When you're a new guy with something that the big guys copy almost immediately, you've got a good product (just better hope you aren't run out of business in a jiffy either). Below is the Toccata Gaming booth at the Amusement Expo show. They had a new game, Rock N Roll Verti-Go and Pong 180, which is pretty much the same thing as that Beer Ball thing above. Having seen both, Beer Ball Pong has 4 player support, better graphics on the LCD and the cups are lit by LEDs which looks cool. The toccata Pong 180 has a rotating platform to switch cups between 2 players, more target area for throwing or bouncing the balls. So in that sense its "control" is better than the Baytek one. But the Baytek is flashier.
I know the beer pong stuff will get all the attention but i'm pretty excited by the Rock N Roll game. Yeah its pretty simple but it's taito's Ice Cold Beer game from the 80s (there is actually one of those at the current Riveira Hotel "Pinball Hall of Fame") and it costs just a little bit above $3000 so its actually in a good price range for what it is (average video arcade prices are in the $7k range and of course, most of those are racing games)

Yeah, Stern got an innovator award for slapping a ticket dispenser onto their machines. That's what's passing off as innovation in the arcade industry at the moment for some reason (and Jersey Jack which had an actual innovative machine got passed up).
