If WayForward fucks this up, they need to be shut down--and CAPCOM razed to the ground--better to leave well enough alone than to drag a classic through the mud, bankrupting a storied franchise: And let's be clear; WayFOrward is VASTLY OVERRATED. THey are loved for one reason and one reason alone: people like us are starved for competent, 2D, games. If there was more than them (and DreamRift, to a much lesser degree) making these games in any sort of numbers, they'd actually have to put effort into *ALL* their games, and not just every third or fourth one--if WayForward was making these sorts of games during the 16-bit era they'd be nobodies. Borsalio: missed this last night, but Contra was bleh--Alien Wars/Hard Corps CRUSH classic Contra.

Ah, you didn't like Contra 4? It wasn't as good as Alien Wars or Hard Corps, of course, but it was still solid. It's probably the closest thing to classic Konami that anyone's been able to make in years.
I'm more forgiving of WayForward than you are, but you certainly have a point. They are capable of good games, though, and I'd hope they would put their best into this one.
But I think an important thing to realize here is that WayForward was probably the best-case scenario to make this game. There aren't many US devs out there who would be appropriate for a project like this (and since I'm assuming this is Capcom USA's initiative, it would have to be a US dev). WayForward's art and music are usually great, and both of those aspects are vital for this game (in the public's eyes, the Moon level's music will be almost as important for this game as the actual gameplay). We're rolling the dice on how strong the game design will be, but I feel pretty good about the rest.

A little Sonic X-Treme mixed with Colors/Generations and topped off with some Mario Galaxy, yeah.
I know this is a series that has a reputation for disappointment that is so strong it spawned a meme, but I'm really excited for this one so far. The game looks amazing and the IGN interview with the devs said all the right things.

Yea, the dev are saying all the right things, but I'm still paranoid it'll be a huge disappointment even after the relative non-disappointments of Colors and Generations.

There isn't a WiiU specific trailer yet but there is talk on Twitter today that the dev is reporting a 60FPS on the WiiU build

I cared about this game until it got picked up by its publisher...now I won't be playing it at all.

I didn't catch who was publishing it, I thought it was all pure Kickstarter...

It was, but now it's being published by the guys that picked up the publishing rights for Cave Story.
